"Rumba Blues Baby" is mainly a tribute  to one of my all time  favorite bluesmen - Albert King aka "the Velevet Bluesdozer". But it's also a tribute to the great Steve Cropper, Booker T Jones & Stax Records. Basically a rumba, the groove is a slower version of Crosscut Saw from Albert's "Born Under A Bad Sign" album.

Many thanks to Emery Ruger for putting this video together.

Musicians:

This clip is from Van Morrison - Live At Montreux  DVD.
Before the DVD was released I never gave much thought to the show....of course performing at The Montreux Jazz Festival was (and is) a career highlight....but after all was said & done, it sort of receded into my memory as just another gig. But then about 15 years later Van is raving to me about how great the show was - quite uncharacteristic for Van to verbalize such enthusiasm for a show let alone one that was about decade & half old!  - and not only that he authorized it's release. I have to say now I agree with him. What a great band that was!....not a ringer in the bunch. BTW.....Who's the guy with the black hair & red tie? Not a bad solo....
